"He was going to stay with me. You both can until I have a talk with your parents," Deaton tells him, moving over and kneeling down in front of him. However, he's not sure how the parents of the future would take to having another animal.

"Scott, I know what he needs," she tells her son gently. "However, if you keep taking away his pain then the medication won't work, it'll be counter productive. So I need you to stop and allow his body to heal. I'll continue checking in on him and he knows how to get me or one of the other nurses in here if he's in too much pain."
