Scott couldn't pull away from what he was doing to reply to the text right away. When he does later, he is concerned.
When Gabe is told to put on his seat belt, he mumbled a 'yes mom' as he obeyed. It was at least a familiar instruction that Stiles would normally tell him to do. In a way that was comforting but in another way it wasn't.
As they pulled out of the parking lot, Gabe's curiosity got the better of him. "Why were you at the high school?"
