Silence spoke louder than words did in that moment. Especially when the kid doesn't say anything to Stiles mentioning never wanting to be a wolf. Actually, that silence scares the hell out of the token human and fear spikes in the room just slightly. Right, calm down and take deep breaths. Don't let a panic attack take him in that moment. Definitely not while at the hospital. Hell, he hadn't even noticed the tears that were starting to prick his eyes. That wanted to escape because this little boy was just... he wanted his family, home. Was worried about the little things and not the big ones. Which reminded him of Scott in so many ways.

"I'll do everything I can in order to help you get back home," Deaton tells Gabriel, reaching down and rubbing the boy's back.Not minding that the boy was pressing against his side like that. "It might take a while but I'll get you back home any way that I can."

Scott hadn't even done anything and he was already feeling guilty about Stiles becoming a werewolf eventually. Somehow, he knew it was his fault. Either him failing to protect him from something or having to do it himself for some reason. It was terrifying and he knew Stiles wouldn't forgive him for it. At least.. not until they were- but wait! Despite all this, they hadn't figured out just how he could have kids with Stiles. That didn't make any sense! He rubbed his thumb along Stiles' hand. The scent of Stiles' tears were what tipped him off, since his gaze had been locked on the child. He got up and- without letting go of Stiles' hand- stretched over and snatched a tissue box. He pulled one out and gently dabbed at Stiles' eyes.

"Okay," Gabriel said, having total faith in Deaton's ability to do this.

Scott finally decided they might need a break. "Deaton, do you think you could take him down to the cafeteria and find him some food?" He wanted to talk to Stiles alone.

Stiles nearly jumps out of his skin when Scott suddenly dabs his eyes but that just," Scotty..." Because if there's some future where he became a werewolf that means he'd nearly died for some reason or another. Something, but he's not entirely sure what.

Deaton gives a nod before picking Gabriel up, not caring that the teen could walk himself," Hospital food isn't all that bad. So hopefully you like spaghetti."

"Hey, it's okay," Scott whispered, trying to keep Stiles calm. At least until the kid left.

Gabe just giggled at being carried like that. He seemed fairly used to it, though usually from his dad or Derek and not Grandpa. Still, he wasn't complaining. The idea of food was appealing and who didn't like spaghetti? No one in his house, that's for sure. Once in the hall, he told Deaton about how it was one of the meals Scott made. Most of the others came from Mamaw or Stiles. At some point he'd want to come back and apologize (again) for the wreck, but fortunately he was distracted for now.

Scott breathed a sigh of relief when they were gone. "Why does all the crazy stuff have to happen to us?" He said, a frail attempt at humor.

"No, Scotty, it isn't okay," he says softly with a bit of a frown. The humor, unfortunately, is lost on him right now. "What in the world happened in that boy's future where I become a wolf? We both know that I don't want that. So what happened, Scotty?" He doesn't even realize just how badly his panic is trying to rise.

Deaton gives a bit of a chuckle and listens to Gabriel tell his story. "I bet that they both cook really good meals. After this, how about we visit the clinic and you can see the puppies."

Well Deaton just opened up a whole other topic Gabriel was excited about. He babbled the whole meal about their new puppy and how much fun it was for him and the other kids to play with it. He was painfully shy around others though. Just getting him through the line in the somewhat crowded cafeteria was a bit of a chore. The kid had about -5 confidence. Besides that, he had really good manners.

Upstairs, Scott sighed and he ran his hands through Stiles' hair again. "Whatever happens, we know you live through it. We both know I wouldn't turn you if there were any other choice. If you're turned by someone else, you still end up with me and are safe. He was worried about you getting upset about his coat, so clearly you're healthy and taking good care of him."

Deaton just lets Gabriel talk about anything that he wanted to. Even to the point of helping him through the cafeteria line so he wouldn't be too overwhelmed. He also told him about a new runt that they'd just gotten at the clinci. One that didn't have a home just yet. After all, this was fascinating and he wanted to know all about the young McCall.

"But am I happy? Are you happy?" Stiles asks feeling his panic rise even more though Scott's fingers running through his hair helped a bit. Hell, he doesn't realize that he's leaning into the touch. "I wouldn't get upset over some coat. That's a material thing."

Gabriel ends up calling himself a runt too and is interested in meeting the puppy Deaton was talking about. He told him all about the two 'litters' of kids so far and how they lived now at the rebuilt Hale house. Gabriel told him the old house now belonged to the married parents of Stiles and Scott, which he did note was sort of odd. He explained how they got picked on a lot since they had two male parents but didn't call them both dad. He said Myles, the oldest, got in trouble a lot for fighting because of it.

Once they head to the clinic, he told Deaton about Scott working there. He didn't know anything about what degree he had or any of the specifics like that, but he knew where they both worked at least. He seemed very happy to just be around Deaton and was obedient if Deaton asked him to do something. From what he explained, he was the youngest and smallest of the pups.

"Hey.. Stiles, look at me," Scott urged. "We both know you wouldn't get upset over that. When I was a kid I would've thought my mom would've been if I messed up something she'd paid for. Maybe we don't have a lot of money? We both know that doesn't matter to us. Whatever happens, we can handle it." They'd be together, so of course they could handle it.

The good vet doesn't correct him because he doesn't know much about the McCall children or who is the oldest or youngest. So Deaton has Gabe tell him all about his siblings. After all, he knows that a wolf can have up to six pups or more per litter. So he merely sits and listens to the young boy tell him about his siblings.

When they do see the puppy, he's definitely a runt. The smallest of the bunch and probably looks like he's sick. Which is why the vet has Gabe hold him in a towel, bottle feeding the pup.

"I never..." He frowns slightly because he, himself, never really got that chance. Not even with his dad who constantly worked himself to death. Especially after the loss of his mom. "But what if we can't handle it, Scott? What if... I don't know!" He really wasn't taking this all that well. "I don't think I could handle being a wolf."

"Is he in pain?" Gabe asked Deaton already in love with the puppy after holding it for about three seconds. He knew Mommy didn't like it when they would use their healing power, but he just couldn't bear the thought of the little animal suffering. How they were going to get Gabe home and without taking that puppy with him was anyone's guess.

"Stiles, stop it," Scott almost scolded him. He knew how Stiles could get into these downward spirals, so he was trying to stop the cycle. "You can. We can. That boy sees you as his parent." Saying 'mother' was still too weird. "In whatever universe he's from, we've raised a kid. Whatever we had to do to make that happen, we've done it. We've succeeded. He wouldn't have been clinging so hard to you if we hadn't."

"No, Gabriel, he's not in pain," Deaton tells him. Though he can't help but smile. "He is, however, a very hungry puppy. Just keep him wrapped up so he doesn't get cold and feed him what's in the bottle."

"No, Scott, I'm not going to stop it," he says with a slight scowl. Sorry, Scott, but that's not how his panic attacks work. Or that downward spiral he has going on. "We don't know what in the hell is going on in his universe. We don't know why I became a wolf because I have always been adament about being human. Nothing more than that. And a child can cling to... you know what, never mind." He's not going to sit there and just, yeah. He's in pain, on the verge of panic and just... This was a lot to take in all in one day.

Gabriel smiled with relief and did just as Deaton asked. He also started talking to the little puppy as it drank from the bottle. For Gabe, animals were preferable to people in most cases. They weren't as intimidating or as mean. So far, he'd never met an animal he didn't like.

Scott sighed. "You realize that might not be our future, right? There could be a million possible futures. There's no reason for you to get upset about something that may not ever happen." He ran his hand through his hair and sighed. "And I know you've always been adamant about that, but we both know things don't always turn out how we want them to." Like Allison.

Deaton gives a smile as he watches Gabe feed the puppy," He'll probably need a bit more than that." After all, he was a runt and needed all the attention he could get.

"We don't know that though, Scott," he says with a shake of his head. "We don't know what future is what or if..." He frowns before sinking back into the bed. "I want to know what the hell happened."

"More?" Gabe asked surprised. He grinned at the puppy and kissed it's forehead. The snout was getting messy with how it was snarfing the bottle. "You're a little piggy," he joked, fondly. "That's okay though, pigs are cute too."

For now he was distracted from worrying about Stiles and Scott and how he didn't technically have a home here. So far, he hadn't realized that aspect of all of this.

"I don't think that's a good idea," Scott answered, shaking his head. "We shouldn't know about our future like that."

"Normally the runts are the ones with the most appetite," Deaton states with a bit of a smile. "Because when they're born, unfortunately, sometimes they don't get enough milk from their mother." He is,however, glad that Gabe was sufficiently distracted.

"I don't care if it's a good idea or not, Scotty," he states closing his eyes for a moment before opening them again, looking towards his best friend. "I want to know why in the hell I'd become a wolf. I want to know what in the hell was so bad in my life that I decided to go against everything I stood for."

Gabe smiled though that description didn't completely work for him- not that he didn't have a healthy appetite like Deaton found out at the cafeteria. "Junior's the one who eats all the time. Myles says if he was human he'd be really fat."

Scott's expression darkened a bit. "And why is it everything you stand for is to not be what I am?" He asked, finally getting upset. "Do you really want to ask some kid what happened? What if he had something to do with it? What would it do to him to have to admit that to you? He already feels terrible for making you wreck your jeep."

"I'm pretty sure that your parents wouldn't of allowed something like that if he'd been human," Deaton states. "Though a healthy appetite is something that's very good to have." Especially, if by what he gathered, they were all born wolves.

"Maybe because I like being human, Scott," he states with a frown, turning onto his side and curling up. "I have never wanted the bite and I've had it offered to me before. I didn't want it then. Besides, it would probably mess with me being the whole Spark thing or something too." He closes his eyes and feels his heart pounding a bit harder, a bit faster," I need to know what happened, Scotty." Which was kind of messed up when normally he'd be the one talking about paradoxes and things like that. However, none of that mattered. He needed answers so he didn't feel like he was drowning and that the world was swallowing him whole.

"They don't stop Ally from eating," Gabe said, thinking about that. "But she doesn't eat like we do. She get sad sometimes because she's different but I try to tell her it's okay. I'm the only one who looks like me." All the rest had either brown or black hair depending on if they took after Scott or Stiles. He was the 'freak' as Myles so lovingly put it.

Scott didn't understand where Stiles was coming from. He understood wanting to remain human, but he didn't understand it being this big of a catastrophe. It bothered him a lot that Stiles was being so narrowly focused. Part of him wanted to protect Gabriel from having to share whatever tragedy happened while another was more selfish. He wanted Stiles to stop seeing this like it would be the end of the world.. like he was too good to be what Scott was.

Despite that, he could sense Stiles was about to lose it. So he put his own feelings aside. "Scoot over," he said, before getting up and moving closer to the bed. Whether Stiles liked it or not, he was crawling onto that bed with him.

"Is Ally the only one of the two litters who is human?" Deaton asks watching Gabriel for a moment. "The rest of you are wolves then." It's more of a statement than question.

It wasn't that he thought he was too good to be a wolf. No, it was more along the lines of he was already a Spark and it was bound to interfere if he ever became a wolf. Though, in that moment, he just wanted answers. Wanted things to go back to normal. School, being home alone because his dad worked too damn much, and lacrosse practice. Game nights with his best friend.

He barely hears Scott but scoots over giving him a bit of room. Hell, he's pretty sure one of the doctors might send Scott out eventually. Unless, of course, Melissa had a hand in things then hopefully not. He needed his best friend there to keep him grounded, so to speak.

Gabe nodded. "Yeah, she was in my litter. The other four older ones were all wolves. Claudia, we call her Dia, is the white one. I'm the white one with a gray spot. Caleb and Myles are dark brown. Junior is sort of gray and brown mixed. Laura is my age and she is gray. I don't know why our hair color and our fur color aren't the same." That was just a random thing he'd always wondered. He thought his gray spot looked kind of funny, but the others swore it was cute. Except Myles, but he was a butthead.

Scott stayed pressed against Stiles, relieved to hear his heartbeat slow to normal- or close- again.

Somehow he just knew whatever happened had been his fault. It was hard with Stiles so adamant about learning this information about their future. He hoped he could get Deaton to back him up on this. Even with more on his side, he was sure Stiles would get it out of him eventually. Poor kid.

Deaton gives a slight nod," It's not uncommon for two werewolf parents to have a human child." However, he listens and smiles a bit listening to the puppy whine because the attention wasn't on him. "Is he done with his bottle?"

Stiles leaned back against Scott letting his body relax slightly. "What're we doing, Scotty?" It's soft as he closes his eyes, taking in a deep breath. We're sure that Scott can pick up the chemosignals of pain, confusion and anxiety all in there. However, laying there with his best friend was helping some.

"Derek and Isaac's baby is human," Gabe informed Deaton matter-of-factly. Then his attention was drawn back to the puppy. "No, I haven't forgotten about you, silly!" He told the puppy before nuzzling it's face, milk smudged and all. Shaking the bottle he nodded. "It's empty."

"We're resting," Scott told Stiles in a very simple way. It was what Stiles needed and so he'd make sure it's what he got. His own problems or thoughts could hush up for a while. Unless they came in here and caused a big ruckus, he wasn't budging.

He raises a brow at that before giving a nod," Your family sounds amazing, Gabriel." Though it was interesting to hear about Isaac and Derek having a child as well. Moving over he takes the bottle," I'm going to get him another one. He might not drink all of this one. If he doesn't that's okay."

"Right..." He murmurs leaning back against his best friend. "Until they run you out, right?"

"They won't run me off. Sleep, I'll be here when you wake up," Scott promised. He'd growl at anyone who tried to move them. Fortunately, he doubted anyone would. Not with how well the staff knew him because of his mother and how this was helping with Stiles' anxiety. He could be wrong, but he didn't think he was.

Gabriel smiled at the compliment. "Thank you. Sometimes I think it's too big, but then other times I don't." It depended on the day and if Myles was picking on him or not.

While the puppy had to wait for another bottle, Gabe played with him. He made a similar playful growl to the puppy's when he found something to play a very gentle game of tug of war.

"Okay..." He murmurs, pressing back against his best friend a bit more until he's comfortable. Until his body decides enough is enough and his breathing evens out.

Melissa comes in a few minutes later and smiles slightly," How's he doing?"

"The Hales had quite a huge family," Deaton tells him with a smile. "I've known them for a long time and there were more Hales than this county could count, I'm sure." He watches the puppy give soft growls or try to anyway before tugging on Gabe's hand in turn.
