AU: Scott/ Stiles/ Gabriel
No one knows why half the things in Beacon Hills happen. It's not exactly something they like to put on tour guides advertising the place.
Scott had gone to work right after his class, which left Stiles to drive home on his own. He would've been able to leave sooner but he'd gotten detention. This one had been totally Scott's fault and he'd apologized at lunch, but he hadn't been able to get Stiles out of it. So when Stiles left the school building there wasn't too many around. Just as he was reaching the parking lot, a bright white flash blinded him for a moment. There was a thud and a groan of pain and then everything went right back to normal. Except now there was a blonde kid laying on the ground not ten yards from him. He was still and unconscious, but there was something remarkably familiar about his face. He wore a coat and scarf, even though it was May and he had he didn't have anything with him besides that.

It wasn't that he thought he was too good to be a wolf. No, it was more along the lines of he was already a Spark and it was bound to interfere if he ever became a wolf. Though, in that moment, he just wanted answers. Wanted things to go back to normal. School, being home alone because his dad worked too damn much, and lacrosse practice. Game nights with his best friend.
He barely hears Scott but scoots over giving him a bit of room. Hell, he's pretty sure one of the doctors might send Scott out eventually. Unless, of course, Melissa had a hand in things then hopefully not. He needed his best friend there to keep him grounded, so to speak.

Scott stayed pressed against Stiles, relieved to hear his heartbeat slow to normal- or close- again.
Somehow he just knew whatever happened had been his fault. It was hard with Stiles so adamant about learning this information about their future. He hoped he could get Deaton to back him up on this. Even with more on his side, he was sure Stiles would get it out of him eventually. Poor kid.

Stiles leaned back against Scott letting his body relax slightly. "What're we doing, Scotty?" It's soft as he closes his eyes, taking in a deep breath. We're sure that Scott can pick up the chemosignals of pain, confusion and anxiety all in there. However, laying there with his best friend was helping some.

"We're resting," Scott told Stiles in a very simple way. It was what Stiles needed and so he'd make sure it's what he got. His own problems or thoughts could hush up for a while. Unless they came in here and caused a big ruckus, he wasn't budging.

"Right..." He murmurs leaning back against his best friend. "Until they run you out, right?"
no subject

Gabriel smiled at the compliment. "Thank you. Sometimes I think it's too big, but then other times I don't." It depended on the day and if Myles was picking on him or not.
While the puppy had to wait for another bottle, Gabe played with him. He made a similar playful growl to the puppy's when he found something to play a very gentle game of tug of war.

Melissa comes in a few minutes later and smiles slightly," How's he doing?"
~~
"The Hales had quite a huge family," Deaton tells him with a smile. "I've known them for a long time and there were more Hales than this county could count, I'm sure." He watches the puppy give soft growls or try to anyway before tugging on Gabe's hand in turn.

He kissed the puppy's head again and stopped playing when it yawned. "Aw, the baby is tired now that his belly's all full."
~~
Scott had almost nodded off when he heard Melissa come in. He shook his head. "He's totally freaked out," he admitted. "We might need to give him a horse tranquilizer." Totally kidding.

~~
"Well, if he doesn't get enough sleep while he's here then we might have to give him a sedative," she tells her son. Moving over she cards fingers through their hair. "He got himself pretty good."
no subject
~~~
"He sure did," Scott agreed. He wouldn't confess to his mom that he was siphoning pain off Stiles this whole time. He kept it subtle, but he was experiencing some of Stiles' pain. It was pretty brutal.
"Would it be okay if I stayed here with him?"
no subject
~~
"As long as you stop taking his pain from him, yes," she states firmly or as firmly as possible with how tired she was. "Because if you harm yourself by taking care of him then no Stiles until he's out of the hospital."
no subject
After asking that, Gabe's mind finally asked the question where was 'home'. His heart sank and he knew neither of his parents wanted him at their house. He blinked, trying to keep tears back as his thoughts were really freaking him out.
~~
"I won't get hurt," Scott protested. Shesh, she sounded just like Stiles! And never mind that that was usually a positive thing. "If I stop, he's going to need some more medicine." He was unhappy about making Stiles have to face it on his own. He'd obey for a while, but he couldn't make Stiles have to deal with that all night alone.
no subject
~~
"Scott, I know what he needs," she tells her son gently. "However, if you keep taking away his pain then the medication won't work, it'll be counter productive. So I need you to stop and allow his body to heal. I'll continue checking in on him and he knows how to get me or one of the other nurses in here if he's in too much pain."
no subject
Gabe nodded, but still looked a little sad. "They don't like me do they?" He hugged the dog, feeling just as outcast as the puppy was. Runts of the world unite! Or at least runs of this particular animal clinic.
~~~
Scott sighed. "Okay," he agreed. He hadn't meant to come off as micromanaging. He was just protective, but his mom knew that. They were all protective of each other's well being. That's what family did.
"Can you believe I have a kid?" Any kid ever. The idea was just so bizarre to him. Sure, at some point or another he figured he'd have kids or a kid or maybe not. He didn't know.
no subject
~~
"I'm sure that you and Stiles are wonderful parents, Scott," she says with a bit of a smile. "I'm sure that you both in whatever time they're from have made us very proud."
no subject
Gabe tried to find some comfort in that reassurance but it was hard. He just wasn't convinced Stiles was all that pleased to learn of his awkward little runt. But he knew Deaton was looking out for him and that did make him feel better. Would it be so bad to live with grandpa for awhile?
"Are you going to find out if Mommy's okay?"
~~
Scott shook his head. It was so hard to even believe it. That's about when he realized Deaton had never come back from getting food.
"Did Deaton talk to you?"
no subject
~~
"Deaton took Gabriel with him to the clinic," Melissa tells him. "That way it gave you boys time to process things. I'm sure we'll be hearing from him again."
no subject
Gabriel gave Deaton a little smile, trusting him completely. It would've disturbed Scott to see such trust from a kid he didn't know, but given Gabriel's background he had all the right reasons to be trusting of Deaton. He was grandpa and had always treated the family well. As far as he knew, they were related regardless of technicalities. So instead of asking any more questions, he just let Deaton do what he wanted to kept playing with the puppy until Peanut looked ready for a nap. In truth, Gabe started looking like he could use one too. Even if he had healed, he had been in an accident today along with randomly time traveling.
~~~
"Oh okay," Scott said, sighing with relief. It made him frown to hear himself. Why was he feeling protective of someone he barely knew? This whole situation was very strange. As far as he was concerned, Deaton could take care of the boy until they were ready for Stiles to come home. Then it would be up to discussion on where the boy went from there if back to his own time wasn't an option yet. Scott didn't know it, but Gabe was hoping Stiles would want him. Even if it was illogical, the boy wanted his mommy.
no subject
~~
"You get some rest too," Melissa tells him, making sure that Stiles got some medicine and running fingers through her son's hair. "And make sure he doesn't pull anything with all of his anxiety and moving around."
no subject
"Okay, Grandpa," Gabriel answered, covering a yawn. He got up and picked up his new puppy (it was his dammit). They were ready to go whenever Deaton was. "Do we need to take a bottle with us?" He asked, concerned for his new best friend.
~~~
"I will," he promised. He wouldn't let Stiles hurt himself even if he was ridiculously stubborn. Watching his mom leave, he put his arm around Stiles gently. It wasn't easy avoiding his injuries but he at least tried. While his mom was gone he took just a little bit more of the pain before deciding to try and honor his promise.

It's probably a good almost half hour before Stiles jolts awake, almost almost forgetting where he was. Or that his best friend was in the hospital bed with him. Right... so it was real. The kid in the school parking lot, the wreck... everything.
no subject
On the ride to Deaton's house, Gabe nodded off with the puppy in his lap. When they got there, he woke up enough to trudge into the house and be guided to whatever surface Deaton wanted him to sack out on. Even with the risk of there being a puppy accident, Gabe just curled up with him. Part of him wanted to become a wolf and sleep that way but he resisted. It would require too much energy anyway.
~~
Scott was woken up by Stiles' sudden movement. He hadn't even realized he'd even fallen asleep. "It's okay," he mumbled, waking up. "I got you."
no subject
~~
He shakes his head and moves to sit up," How is it okay? All of that really happened, Scotty."
no subject
Scott sighed. Stiles' rest clearly hadn't put him in a better mood. "How about 'hey don't panic, no one is about to kill you'?" That's what he'd meant feeling Stiles jerk like that. But hey, if he wanted to look on the negative side, they could do that too. Whatever.
